August 2024 an SPARK Nutzer.
Hello,
After a thorough assessment, we have decided to shut down Meta Spark’s platform of third party tools and content, effective January 14, 2025.
This means that the AR Effects built by third parties – including brands and our wider community of AR Creators – will no longer be available beginning on this date. AR Effects owned by Meta will continue to be available to our users across our Family of Apps. Meta Spark Studio, the Meta Spark Players, and Meta Spark Hub will also go away.
Please know that Meta is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our community of creators, businesses, and other people who build and use our third-party AR Effects. You will be able to continue to use the Meta Spark platform to create, publish, and manage AR Effects across Meta’s family of apps until January 14, 2025.
If you no longer use Meta Spark or do not wish to save any past work or activity, there is no further action that you need to take.
For active users of Meta Spark, you can see our FAQ for more information, details, and guidance on next steps. We’re also including a few FAQs here that we think you may find helpful.
What will happen when the Meta Spark platform goes away?
On January 14, 2025, you will no longer be able to log into Meta Spark Studio, Meta Spark Player or Meta Spark Hub.
On the same date, third-party effects will no longer be visible on Meta platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. Users will no longer see third-party AR Effects when accessing the camera.
What will happen to user content that uses my AR Effects?
If an Instagram, Facebook, or Messenger user has already used your AR Effect – in a story or a reel, for example – that content will not be affected.
Will you keep maintaining the platform (e.g. fixing bugs and similar) before the Meta Spark platform is shut down?
Yes, we’ll continue to maintain the Meta Spark platform until it shuts down on January 14, 2025. If you find any issues on the platform, please let us know via Meta Spark Studio or Meta Spark Hub.
What actions do you recommend I take before Meta Spark goes away?
If you’ve published effects to Instagram, Facebook or Messenger, we recommend you download and save your project files, assets and demo videos prior to January 14, 2025. Meta Spark tools will no longer be available from this date. If you need help saving project assets and demo videos, please see here.
If you want to continue to showcase the AR Effects you built on Meta Spark, we recommend you create a portfolio on an external website.
If you need further support, please read our FAQ or reach out via the Meta Spark Communityand we’ll do our best to answer your questions.
We close this chapter with deep gratitude to the AR Creators, businesses, and users who have created, published, shared, and enjoyed AR Effects across Meta’s platforms over the past seven years.
When we first launched Meta Spark in 2017, augmented reality experiences were new to most consumers. AR Effects have now been used billions of times, by hundreds of millions of Meta users across our platforms – all because of the imagination, innovation, and creativity of our AR Creators. We thank you for being a part of the Meta Spark community.
